Alright...

I like video games.Gran Turismo is one of my fav's.
But this is out of control.

Leave It To The Experts

Here is a highly appreciated piece. Global warming is coming, like H5N1, and there is nothing at this point anyone can do to stop it. But atleast there are uber-scientists out there who can say, yeah this is going to suck a little, but compared to everything else the earth has endured, it's like getting hit in the thigh with wiffle ball chucked by your little sister.

Darn...

Where am I supposed to go now?

Life Without Harry

It is hard to imagine a life without Potter.
I am not even a diehard fan, but I know that my life will somehow be affected by his departure.
2006 will be a big year for the arts simply because of Rowling's decisions as an artist.
Which is pretty impressive.
Might I note that she wrote her first Potter novel in the same city, in the same cafe, that my fiance is now studying.
Just a little fifteen minutes, I do apologize.

For Naysayers

Yes yes yes...
Google is this or google is that.
Fact of the matter is they can make things like this happen on the internet for everyday people doing everyday things.
Do you have that kind of power?
And if you did, could you use it for as much good as they have?

You Don't Say

This is ironic in oh so many more ways than one.

A Little Skeptical

I don't mean to be the one to even things out, and I certainly don't mean to say that I don't want good things to happen to all people...
But what about all of the miracles that didn't come true for all of the millions of other people this Christmas.
And what about all of the similar cases of miraculous scientific victory that happen on a day to day basis, that don't get coverage because of Christmas.
I'm sorry, but maybe I am just a grounded human being that would like to believe that there could be some spotlight on all of the miracles that happen throughout the rest of the year, outside this farce of a birthday that we call Christmas.

Attempting Forward Progress

If only someone were trying to do this here in the states, or even if the States could be anywhere near such breakthroughs.

Fascinating

It really is amazing how much fuss can be mustered over one second.
I want to be a time lord.
How do I get that, does some monarch have to touch both my shoulders with a watch... And say rise now a lord and protector of time.

A Little More On Pa.

This Forrest is a good woman. And anyone interested should go to the discovery institutes website to try and get a foothold on all of these intelligent design shenanigans.
And if you still have the stomach, take a look at this.
Intelligent Design is inherently not a scientific theory because it attempts to explain immense complexities with sovereign ambiguity.
Science would never do this.
The one great thing about science, is that it can and has to admit when it is wrong.

Alert

Everyone be on the lookout. These things just don't stop coming.

Leave Well Enough Alone

I think that Apple's 99 cents per song, any song is a great thing, and it is disconcerting that there are some executives out there who want to charge more for those that they think they could and less for others. I think one of the reasons that Jobs has such a diverse customer base with his ipods is because I know no matter what song I want, or by who, I will pay 99 cents for it.

Happy Holidays To All

Wishing all of everyone's dreams a fantastic come true tonight.
Perhaps for just one night it may be conceivable to imagine a world with no death.
So that no mother has to say goodbye to a son, and no father has to say goodbye to a daughter.
Tonight I try and envision a world where all misery and suffering are put behind those who are inflicted by them. I try and envision a night with no classes, no social hierarchy, no corporate bureaucracy.
A night when we can all just be what we were born to be, great humans.
To all the very best this night...
and as many after as we can manage.

The Big Retailer

Wal-Mart finds itself in oh so shallow waters yet again.
I wish I was large enough to be above everything else that breathes.
But then; they'd know what they're doing.

Viva Morales; Viva Morales?

Another possible addition to the axis of evil.
I met a man from Equador the other night in a bar called Che's of all things,
and he spun me a tale of Bolivian culture...
No American would want to hear.

Are You Kidding?

If he has all these marks all over his body from being tortured by the Americans who are holding him, why didn't he just show them at the time of the announcement.
If I were being tortured and had the opportunity to say something to someone, you better believe I would be doing everything in my power to prove it.
Apparently Saddam and I think differently.

H5N1 Strikes Again

As difficult as this is to report on, because it is terrible, the H5N1 virus appears to have outwitted us yet again, and we are running out of medicinal options.
Be frugal with your Tamiflu.
If you start to get symptoms, go to the doctor first and find out what you have.
Don't just pop your Tamiflu at the first sign of anything, because it may not be helping any of your symptoms; only helping the virus become resistant.

A Little Dissidence for the HOLIDAYS

It's happened to me several times; I wish someone happy holidays, because it seems the polite and Christmasy thing to do, and they look at you and go "you mean merry Christmas?" with a look of disgust. I just reply, happy whatever makes you happy day, because this is my favorite time of the year. Not because I care about the Christianity of it, which is ridiculous to say because Christianity is so far removed from Christmas that you might call it Macy's day, but because it is the time of year when we are supposed to come together collectively and say alright, I am going to be nicer to everyone, no matter what. Yeah, we should act like that all year, but we don't and that is the truth of it. So this one season, this short amount of time that we have, I would like to see unity continue, not this rise of dissension over a radical semantic debate concerning two words. Screw "Christmas" and the "holidays," let's just be better to eachother.

Once Again...

Please for the love of all things holy, see this for what it is. Just because Hwang Soo-Yuk can't publish an unfabricated story to save his life, the field of genetics should not pay the price. If you have ever thought to yourself, you know... "I'd like for my children or grandchildren not to have to suffer the same things I have had to suffer," genetics is the only thing that will bring that to pass. Genetics is still genetics, and will be the dominant science of the 21st century; don't try and slow it down because of one arrogant man's actions.

Uh-Oh

Let's face it, this is a problem. With the first of the baby boomers turning sixty on January first, all medical staff needs to be just that: staffed. Nurses are the front-runners. They are the marines of the medical field. We need you now, and in great abundance.

A Bold Move...

Considering he is still awaiting trial. Let's be serious for a moment, only truly innocent men never have to face the law head on.

And I'm Not Even A Dog Person

As twisted as this might sound, if you live on the west coast like so many of us do, and are looking to purchase a puppy, you may want to inquire where the dog comes from. These animals are being smuggled in from Mexico, and are disease ridden. They will probably die within a week and I would not want to have to look my son or daughter in the eye and have to say, I have no idea why this happened.

A Little Optimism

Amidst a rash of plane crashes leading to multiple deaths, here is at least one story where all of the passengers lived, despite what appeared to be dire conditions.

Watch What You Eat

Never eat at Chi-Chi's; and of course be mindful of any fast food or food court food, if you must eat it at all.

It's Official

Google talkers and Aim messengers rejoice.
Google is now an official 5 percent shareholder in the TimeWarner owned company;
and soon you will be chatting with each other like never before.

Heartening Move

Decisions like this continually renew my faith in united states constitutional law and the judges who uphold it.
Intelligent design calls upon notions of the supernatural and therefore inherently cannot be science, and sequentially should not be taught in science courses.
Seperation of church and state is crucial to American success, and today, someone recognized that.

More on the issue here.

Yes, This Is Still Happening

Is it fair to say, distrust the Catholics? Yes
Is it unfair to say, distrust only the Catholics? Yes
The Catholics sin no more than the reformists, who sin no more than the non-denominationalists, who sin no more than the Christian Right deforming this country and world.
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
No human has the right to judge another human based on the morality or ethics of another human.
We only have the right to judge by law.
This is why the separation of church and state is crucial.
Let the catholic be judged by US law, and nothing else.
For anything else could easily be judged itself.

Always In The Middle Of History

Not only is this fascinating as a quiet observer, and thrilling as a scientist marveling at the accomplishments of humankind, and baffling as a semi-educated man who doesn't know a lot about astronomy; when you take a step back, and look at life globally, everything is eventual, and everything becomes history. I am overjoyed to be a human; now and forever ago. We are the only things that could never have happened anywhere else. That is heartening.

One Million And Counting

I you haven't already, you should join the club. Tabbed browsing is the greatest thing since sliced bread and the pages load more quickly. Give the Fox a shot.

Foresight Is Key

Whatever you may make of this story, if you are following, should be in direct relation with Dr. Woo-suk, and him alone. Perhaps his defense testimonial is true and he can prove all eleven batches to be authentic, or maybe he cannot. Either way, this should not be a bad reflection on the science of genetics. Everyone must understand, genetics is the future. If diseases previously incurable are to be cured, it will be through genetics. There are armies of uber-intelligent scientists working in this field, it would be folly to judge it on Woo-suk's actions.

Light In The Dark

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Even though this is tremendously heartening news given the severity of cervical cancer, protected sex is still the best alternative to dying, or having an unexpected unprepared for child, or contracting any of those diseases out there that will most likely plague you for the rest of your lives.
It's never worth it.

Get On Board

Google has all but secured it's advertising space in the virtual shopping mall of broadband information access, and one can only wonder what part the term "exponential growth" has to play in the future price per share of Page, Brin and Co.

A Little Homage

I would like to take a moment to thank Mr. Glenn Reynolds, a highly intelligent and respectable authority whose blog instapundit.com, is a must for anyone "in the know," for stating what I have felt for some time; the first round of the patriot act was a gimme and that perhaps it is no shabby thing that this time it has some real opposition.

Another Battle; Another Defeat?

The administration has been under fire for many things in recent weeks, and has had to take a back seat on major issues it once so vehemently opposed. Will this be yet another lost battle on the road to 08, or does our commander in chief really have the constitutional right to spy on us behind our backs? Read carefully.

A Question

I would simply like to know what all of your opinion's are in this. Should this be an amendment, should it be law?

Some Good Advice

Here are some good tips, not only for those who are in college now, but also know that some day soon, whether they like it or not, will be sending some tots off to college and are scared out of their skivies as to how their going to pay for it.

Still Though...

Personally, I probably would have left this out. I mean, it is awesome to have a firm foundation and stand by what you.. whatever. But being the United States of America, as a democracy, with a comprehensive constitution, public opinion matters, whether people wish to acknowledge it or not; and the public, according to their opinion at the moment, are not too happy with the way the administration is conducting itself these days, on all issues. This can only lend fuel to their fire.

Tact

I must say, I highly respect this move by the President. He effed up on the intelligence. You know it, I know it, and the American people know it, but he is right. As I have mentioned before, Hussein needed to be deposed; and that is done.

Excuse Me?

Take a gander at Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speaking about Grimm's Holocaust. Perhaps a little later after supper he can tell us the story of Bulfinch's Renaissance.
This man is just taunting the peace process that the UN is trying to uphold at all costs. He's like the kid with the all the lunch money as the teacher stands behind him like a watchdog, "I've got the nuclear program, I've got the nuclear program."

MTV On A Comeback?

MTV joins Microsoft, look out! One can imagine that if exposure to multitudes of music counts, then this juncture could promise to be a big one. Still, the fact of the matter is, it doesn't make any difference what retail outlet you frequent this holiday season, you will be hard pressed to find an ipod. That is because they are being sold at an unprecedented rate. That means that itunes is also being utilized equally, by default. That is tough to compete with. Even if you are the "music" gurus of the late eighties and early nineties and basically the be all end all of computer software.

What A Show

I just returned from a Bare Naked Ladies show around an hour ago, and what a phenomenal experience that was. At the end of the alcohol song (which was the first song I ever heard by the ladies) Ed came over to me, I was standing center stage in the pit, and hangs his guitar in front of me, hands me his pick and says finish the song. So I am strumming back and forth for like a minute when he say okay, now watch Tyler (the drummer). So I watch and as he plays the final note I strummed my final strum with perfect timing. It was so much fun. I met them all before the show and they are great guys. They are all exactly as they appear on stage, funny and genuine. If anyone gets a chance to see them this holiday season, I highly suggest it.

Thank You Anonymous Blogger

I hope that anonymous blogger realizes that he/she has stated some of the million things that I had to say on the issue, and that I couldn't agree with him/her more. Yes freedom of religion is one of the core principals that we are founded on. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercize thereof;" and I think that seperation of Church and State are essential. I claim no religion or sect or side, and I am free to do so. That is the beautiful thing about America, I couldn't agree more. I just also happen to believe that it is none of our business what the president puts on his Christmas card, which by the way had nothing to do with Christ and didn't even mention Christmas; it said Happy Holidays, that is what got the Christian panties in a bunch.

Unhand Him

I listened to this story earlier on NPR and it made me sick to my stomach. I have a million things to say about this issue, and I promise I will... but for now because I have to be up far too early to go into it, I am going to say this; It's a personal card. I am so tired of the American public thinking that they have every right to the Presidents' personal life that they can just cast their judgements and have their public opinion affect what the President wants to do or say with undisputable personal matters. There are some things that the Bush admistration does that I agree with, and there are some things that I disagree with. All of these things are political. I have no right to tell the man how to vote, or sing or cry or love. I have no right to oppress the President implying that he can say one thing and not another, just as he has no right to prohibit me. You all seem to forget that the President is a citizen of the United States, that grants him the first amendment in all of it's glory. So whether you, or you, or you like it or not, he can do whatever he pleases with his Holiday Cards, because they are his Holiday Cards. Leave the man alone.

More H5N1 News

I think it's great that the administration is holding drills for the executives at the White House. It's
comforting that when the pandemic reaches the shores of old red, white and blue that some of our elected officials will have atleast a vague idea of what to do, or think. I find it curious however that the President can find a morning bikeride more significant than being educated on emergency preparedness; and following suit, how Mr. Cheney conveniently finds more important things to do. Much like the incredibly late request for $7.1 billion for vaccination development less than a month ago, the actions of our two most top officials really makes me question the administrations dedication to not only science in general, but science as applied to saving lives.

This Day In December

This is a sad day. I can't say that we've lost a good man, and I can't say that we've lost a bad man. We have simply lost a man... with a life; and this is my homage to that life. Thank you.

Try And Take Heed.

I am what you might call a non-smokers smoker. I generally will smoke in-between 5 and 10 cigarettes a day. I am however, fully aware if it's potential threats to my health, my social life and potentially, my existence. So I try and soak up articles like this and continue the struggle to quit every day of my life. It is difficult, but like anything else, knowledge is power. Keep yourself informed. One day you will read something that will be enough to make you go, "alright, that's it." Good luck to all in this gruesome battle.

The Voice of Reason

This man, though he needs no reaffirmation, I present to you as one of the funniest men alive. All of us will eventually have no choice but to revere this man as the comic genius of our time. Guaranteed

A Difference Of Opinon!?

A little chronological history on U.S. policy concerning the subsistence of torture and the practice thereof. A few unnerving photos, and a semantic dilemma. How do you define torture?

A New Spin On Old Favorites

Click listen at the top of this page to here a refreshing spin on some of the old Christmas tunes . I personally love all Christmas music, I sometimse listen to it during summer, but I know that in retail North America as soon as we leave our houses we are subjected to the same old songs over and over again. This concert offers great renditions by some incredibly musically diverse acts.

A Tough Transition

I saw Aeon Flux yesterday, and I think my friend had a pretty good description when she said "it was a lot better than I thought it would be, but it was also worse than I thought it would be." It had a pretty good plot line, which, if anyone remembers the original cartoon, is not at all normal or even appreciated. And though I know this is always the case when you try and take animation into the realm of reality, it just wasn't Aeon Flux enough for me. Still, given the circumstances, I would moderately recommend it, but don't pay more than matinee.

A Matter of International Security

Whether or not you agree with the administration's decision to wage war in 2003, one thing should not be up for debate, this man needed to be stopped. Just as Nero or Hearst or Hitler needed to be stopped. The global community as a whole benifits when ethnocentric dictators with gaining power are brought to their knees. There may currently be no evidence of weapons of mass destruction hiding somewhere in Saddam's fallen regime, and their may never be; but there was also no evidence of justice, or regard for the soveriegnty of the existence granted to all of us. No regard for the human, any human.

The H5Nwhat?

Scientists have known about the H5N1, or avian flu virus for some time, but despite great efforts on their parts, the general populace is still clueless. There will be large amounts of people affected by this virus in the pandemic that we know is coming, it is only a matter of time. Here are some tips on how to be prepared.

Extreme Makeover

Man's best friend has become the reason for the world's first face transplant.

Great News...

One down and too many more to go, but this is great news. If only we could run into such blind fortune with al-Zarquawi or al- Zawahiri.

Tech Something.

I know that Skype is Skype, and that logitech webcams....
I am a firm advocate of Google, their Google Talk and Gmail. If you haven't heard of these things I suggest you get a computer equipped with the internet.
I am aquainted with many people throughout the world, and alot of the reason for that is Google Talk. I have never had a bad connection, I have never had a bad experience, period.

Rice... Help!!

This is getting hairy. At least mainstream hairy. Now the lawsuits and the ACLU are involved... UH OH.

Condoleezza Rice will soon respond to European allies about the pressure that has been put on Washington over the last few weeks. The U.S. has thus far refused to either confirm or deny the allegations of unfair treatment of terrorist suspects. My question is, and it is honest, with no hidden meaning; why? I am all for Rice defending our country against accusations of unconstitutional actions, but why don't they just come out and say no, we are not guilty. If anyone has any thoughts on the discretion, I'm all eyes.
